|Marquette rockets six spots in this week's AP Top 25 poll, landing at #18. The Golden Eagles are one of six Big East teams in the poll, the others being Syracuse at #6, Louisville (#12), Georgetown (#15), Pittsburgh (#16), and Notre Dame (#21). One Big East team dropped out of the poll this week. Cincinnati had been ranked #17. Marquette started off the week with a win at South Florida, 70-47. That was followed by another win at home against DePaul, 89-78.
Syracuse moves up three spots in the poll following a week that began with a win at home over then-25th ranked Notre Dame, 63-47. After that came another win at home against St. John's, 77-58.
Louisville moves down one position after a win against Rutgers, 68-48 and a loss to then-25th ranked Notre Dame, 104-101. Georgetown moves up five spots after a win against Rutgers, 69-63. Pittsburgh moves up seven places after wins against then-17th ranked Cincinnati, 62-52 and Seton Hall, 56-46. Notre Dame moves up four spots after a win against then-11th ranked Louisville and a loss to then-9th ranked Syracuse. Wisconsin breaks into the Top 25 at #20 with an overtime win at home against Iowa, 74-70 and an upset win at home over then-3rd ranked Michigan, 65-62. Memphis also enters the Top 25 at #22, along with Colorado State at #24 and Kentucky at #25. Creighton drops out of the Top 25 this week with an upset loss at Indiana State, 76-57 and an upset loss at home to Illinois State, 75-72. Minnesota and Missouri also drop out this week.
