StatSheet Projects Marquette as NCAA Tournament Four Seed: 02/12/2013

StatSheet is now projecting Marquette as a four seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Golden Eagles are the #18 team in the AP Poll and sit at #16 in the StatSheet StatRank with a 17-6 overall record and an 8-3 record in the Big East.

Over the last four games, Marquette grabbed wins against DePaul and South Florida but also hit a setback with losses to AP #15 Georgetown and AP #12 Louisville.

Marquette is underwhelming against top competition, with a 5-5 record against the RPI Top 100 but a 4-5 record against the RPI Top 50 and a 3-4 record against AP ranked teams. The Golden Eagles have four quality wins including AP #16 Pittsburgh, AP #15 Georgetown, RPI #26 Connecticut, and AP #20 Wisconsin. Their only bad loss came against RPI #155 Green Bay.

The last four teams into the NCAA Tournament with at-large bids are Saint Mary's (21-4, 10-1 West Coast, StatRank #51), Virginia (17-6, 7-3 ACC, StatRank #82), Creighton (20-5, 9-4 Missouri Valley, StatRank #45), and Stanford (15-9, 6-5 Pac 12, StatRank #55).

The first four teams out are Alabama (15-8, 7-3 SEC, StatRank #71), Southern Miss (18-6, 7-2 C-USA, StatRank #48), Temple (16-7, 5-4 A-10, StatRank #47), and Villanova (15-9, 6-5 Big East, StatRank #70).

The next four out are Boise State (16-7, 4-5 Mountain West, StatRank #43), Maryland (17-7, 5-6 ACC, StatRank #71), Rutgers (12-10, 3-8 Big East, StatRank #67), and Saint Louis (18-5, 7-2 A-10, StatRank #57).
